Tough, capable and unapologetically fit-for-purpose: three qualities that could describe Elliot Brown watches or Land Rover’s new Defender. This particular model is the result of a three-year collaboration between the design teams from both brands. Based on the military-spec Holton Professional, it employs the same hardened stainless-steel case, highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and precision Swiss Ronda 715 calibre quartz movement. But uniquely, the design also carries over numerous visual elements from the new Defender, such as the hexagonal detailing and the ‘squircle’ hour markers, the same shape as the vehicle distinctive tail lights. There’s also a nod to Land Rover’s heritage: look carefully at the dial and you’ll spot orange minute markers at 19 and 48: the year the first Land Rover was launched. It’s a rugged and supremely well-built timepiece. So, if you’re heading off-road, there’s no better choice than to have this strapped to your wrist, at the wheel of a 4x4.
It isn’t easy to carve out a niche in the premium watch industry, where some brands have marketing budgets that run into the tens of millions. That ethos naturally led to collaborations with some of the most demanding users – round-the-world yachtsmen, firefighters, RNLI crews, Mountain Rescue teams and even British military special forces units. These challenges helped the duo to hone the design of each and every Elliot Brown watch to perfection. Elliot Brown design and re-design every component to make watches that are fundamentally fit-for-purpose, minimising or eliminating typical points of failure such as spring bars breaking, straps snapping, or watches leaking - all potentially catastrophic failures.
Any watches damaged in service can be repaired quickly and economically at their in-house workshop in Poole and returned to service with the minimum of disruption.
Not only is their servicing world class, the warranty has no small print. It’s honest, comprehensive, and straightforward. The whole watch is covered for 5 years, not just the movement. The only exclusions are accidental damage, the battery and wear & tear.
