Elliot Brown x Land Rover Holton Professional

Tough, capable and unapologetically fit-for-purpose: three qualities that could describe Elliot Brown watches or Land Rover’s new Defender. This particular model is the result of a three-year collaboration between the design teams from both brands. Based on the military-spec Holton Professional, it employs the same hardened stainless-steel case, highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and precision Swiss Ronda 715 calibre quartz movement. But uniquely, the design also carries over numerous visual elements from the new Defender, such as the hexagonal detailing and the ‘squircle’ hour markers, the same shape as the vehicle distinctive tail lights. There’s also a nod to Land Rover’s heritage: look carefully at the dial and you’ll spot orange minute markers at 19 and 48: the year the first Land Rover was launched. It’s a rugged and supremely well-built timepiece. So, if you’re heading off-road, there’s no better choice than to have this strapped to your wrist, at the wheel of a 4x4.

    • Design touches taken from the new Land Rover Defender including the hexagonal detailing and the ‘squircle’ shaped hour markers. Look carefully at the dial and you'll spot orange micro markers at 19 and 48, significant because it was the year the first Land Rover was launched
    • Swiss Ronda calibre 715 movement with low-battery/end of life indicator that prevents the watch being issued with a low battery. It is housed inside a proprietary shock protection system consisting of a steel housing suspended by elastomer shock absorbers. Projected battery life is approximately 3 years
    • High grip, uni directional divers’ bezel case hardened to 1200HV Vickers hardness with matt PVD coating that is highly resistant to marking and provides an outer layer of protection for the watch
    • 316L stainless steel case. Gunmetal finish is treated with an anti-reflective PVD coating that naturally repels mud and grime
    • Every watch is individually pressure tested to 200m at several points during production
    • Easy to use yet highly protected, deeply recessed, screw-down crown. Triple sealed against moisture ingress with hobnail knurling for secure grip, located in the 4H position to keep it out of harm’s way
    • Matt black dial with contrasting white graphics and white/orange hour/minutes hands for maximum contrast during the day
    • SuperLuminova luminous hands and batons ensure instant legibility
    • Detailed caseback features the Land Rover oval in the centre, superimposed over contour lines traced from Tyneham Cap on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, including spot heights above sea level
    • Bevelled 2mm sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating applied to the inner surface, to minimise glare for perfect visibility in all light conditions. Mounted fractionally below the hardened bezel to minimise edge chipping, with a matching black sealing ring. To pass EB quality control standards, every crystal must be capable of withstanding an impact applied 3 times by a 17mm steel ball dropped from 0.5m
    • Bolted case back creates a perfect compression seal and correct tension for the shock absorption system, whilst also ensuring the Land Rover logo is always perfectly horizontal (unlike many case backs that screw onto the watch case)
    • Delivered in a bespoke recycled EVA travel/storage case with an additional black and orange anti-bacterial webbing strap, fitted with our patented buckle and easy strap change tool that locks into the ends of the solid strap bars for quick strap changes even whilst out in the wild
    • Display Type: Analogue
    • Movement Type: Swiss made 3-hand date
    • Type of hour markers: Numerals & batons with Superluminova markings
    • Watchband fixing: Solid stainless screw in bars removable from one side with a single screwdriver (included), solid stainless wide tongue 'EB' buckle with screw in hinge pin
    • Strap material: Black EPDM soft rubber with solid stainless wide tongue 'EB' buckle
    • Weight: 132 g
    • 9H-3H 43mm excluding crown
    • 12H-6H - 52mm max to tip of case shoulders
    • Maximum thickness 12mm
    • Fits up to 190mm/7.5" wrist perfectly
    • Leather and webbing straps fit larger wrists, and metal bracelets can have any number of links added
  • Sustainability through longevity - Every Elliot Brown watch is designed and constructed to an extraordinarily high standard. These are time pieces which will last a generation or even a lifetime, with periodic servicing. All Elliot Brown watches are backed by a 5-year warranty.
  • It isn’t easy to carve out a niche in the premium watch industry, where some brands have marketing budgets that run into the tens of millions. But the founders of Elliot Brown knew right from the start what they wanted to build: unique, tough, wearable and extraordinarily capable watches that were made to live up to a standard, not produced down to a price point.

To get there, they pooled all their collective expertise, passions and obsessions. Based in Dorset, Ian Elliot and Alex Brown both live and breathe a coastal, outdoor lifestyle where salt water, sand and mud place huge demands on kit. But with professional backgrounds in horology and materials sciences, they were well placed to imagine and execute the most durable watches on the planet.

That ethos naturally led to collaborations with some of the most demanding users – round-the-world yachtsmen, firefighters, RNLI crews, Mountain Rescue teams and even British military special forces units. These challenges helped the duo to hone the design of each and every Elliot Brown watch to perfection. So, if you want a watch to perform, discreetly but efficiently, day in and day out – there is really no better choice. You can wear an Elliot Brown watch on every adventure, from the everyday to the extraordinary. After all, time is precious. Why waste it?

  • Elliot Brown design and re-design every component to make watches that are fundamentally fit-for-purpose, minimising or eliminating typical points of failure such as spring bars breaking, straps snapping, or watches leaking - all potentially catastrophic failures.

Any watches damaged in service can be repaired quickly and economically at their in-house workshop in Poole and returned to service with the minimum of disruption.

Not only is their servicing world class, the warranty has no small print. It’s honest, comprehensive, and straightforward. The whole watch is covered for 5 years, not just the movement. The only exclusions are accidental damage, the battery and wear & tear.

A great watch at an excellent price
