Built to last is not usually something you associate with lunch boxes. But when Dan Black, the lead designer at Black and Blum, turned his attention to designing their first product in 2010 the aim was to provide a different option from the mix of takeaway cartons and cheap, leaky lunchboxes people were making do with. Over 14 years, and 25 design awards later, the range has expanded to include insulating food containers, bottles and almost anything you need to bring food and drink on the go. Not content with just making ‘nice looking things’ they’ve consistently pushed the envelope and from totally leak-proof options to microwavable metal lunch boxes. They’re also a member of 1% For the Planet and work with local groups to help reduce food waste in London.
