Finding a comfy place to sit after a long day on the trail is one of backpacking’s biggest problems. A stump doesn’t cut it when you’ve put some serious miles in your legs. And a sit pad doesn’t give you the support you need to properly enjoy the view. Which is exactly the problem Crazy Creek founder Rob Hart has been working to solve — to perfect ‘just sit there’, since 1987.

Hailing from Montana’s Beartooth Mountains, the original idea came when Rob rocked up to a campsite with a bunch of Outward Bound students and couldn’t find a proper place to put his feet up. A fallen log was the best he had back then, which launched Rob and his girlfriend Louise on a mission to create something better.

Now, almost 40 years later, Crazy Creek has been behind some of the most comfortable, beloved and astoundingly fit-for-purpose camping chairs out there. They’ve mastered the art of solving a singular problem — helping hikers, backpackers and anyone with a butt rediscover the lost art of just sitting there.
