Low-bulk, rechargeable 500-lumen headlamp

For extended low-light adventures, a decent head torch is a must. But many bulky and heavy headlamps get uncomfortable if you’re forced to wear them for hours on end. Petzl’s Iko is different. It has been ergonomically designed for supreme comfort, while combining multiple technologies to offer a bright, 500-lumen output with a weight penalty of just 90g. Key to the design is Petzl’s Airfit headband, which fuses an ultra-thin lamp body with a battery unit worn at the back of the head. This balanced construction ensures enhanced long-term wearing comfort. The multiple LEDs are easy on the eyes too, being ideally distributed for optimal uniform lighting, with no retina-burning hotspots. The Iko comes Petzl’s Core rechargeable battery for maximum performance, rated at 500 lumens. But it can also be used with 3 standard AAA batteries, making it a versatile adventure companion. The low-bulk design packs away easily, while it can also be worn around the neck or even transformed into a lantern, using the supplied storage pouch.

    • Ergonomic and comfortable patented AIRFIT headband
    • Versatile and easy to use hybrid concept design: IKO comes with the CORE rechargeable battery but is also compatible with 3 x standard AAA batteries
    • Lamp detects the energy source and adjusts lighting performance (IKO with CORE rechargeable battery = 500 lumens, IKO with standard batteries = 350 lumens)
    • Innovative, streamlined design, with semi-rigid headband and ultra-thin lamp body
    • Rear battery pack distributes the weight of the headlamp over the entire head, making it balanced and comfortable enough to be almost imperceptible
    • Water-repellent headband resists sweat and rain. The thin headband considerably reduces the area of contact and improves air circulation during dynamic activities
    • Quick and easy rear adjustment
    • Multiple LEDs provide homogeneous light distribution
    • Two beam types (flood or mixed) and many white brightness levels, to meet different user requirements: proximity lighting, movement and distance vision
    • Three lighting levels, easily and quickly accessible with a single button
    • Can be mounted in various ways, depending on use: worn on the head or around the neck, placed on a table, attached to a tent pole or tree...
    • Storage pouch allows it to be transformed into a lantern
    • Reflective components on rear make the user visible at night
    • Battery charge indicator when lamp is turned on or off, for checking remaining battery life
    • Two LOCK functions to avoid accidentally turning it on
    • Can be flattened in its minimal pouch to reduce bulk
    • Light output: 500 lumens (ANSI-FL1 STANDARD)
    • Weight: 79 g
    • Dimensions: 19.2 x 4.2 x 19.8 cm

  • As a brand, Petzl was born in the darkness. Their story began with founder Fernand Petzl’s passion for caving, back in the mid-1930s. Out of that passion, Petzl started to design innovative solutions for ascending, descending, belaying and moving about underground. This included pioneering headlamps and rope safety equipment. But alpinists soon discovered that what worked below the earth also worked above it, and Petzl kit was quickly co-opted by climbers, mountaineers and skiers.

Today, Petzl remains one of the leading technical brands in all these fields, still devoted to one mission: to access the inaccessible. The product range is split into two core categories: lighting – which includes some of the world’s most advanced head torches; and verticality – highly technical equipment designed for those venturing into the world’s loftiest mountain ranges as well as the globe’s deepest, darkest places.
