  • Compact daypack with superior carrying comfort

A common gripe with smaller daypacks is that they sometimes skimp on the features and carrying comfort you'd enjoy with a slightly larger pack. No such concerns with the 22-litre Terravia Pack from Patagonia. The raised backpanel and underside of the shoulder straps feature breathable airmesh, while a hipbelt and sternum strap keep the pack steady and stable whatever your activity. For a relatively compact zip-top pack, the capacity is boosted by external stretch mesh pockets, trekking pole loops, and a useful bungee web that'll hold a fleece or rain jacket. Speaking of rain, some manufacturers will sting you for a rain cover as an optional extra, but the Terravia comes with one included in its own exterior pocket on the base of the pack.

      How to Measure Torso:

      1. Grab a measuring tape and a buddy. Tuck your chin down and feel for the large bone at the base of your neck. This is the top of your torso measurement.
      2. Find the top of your hip bones. Find the middle point between these two on your lower back. This is the bottom of your torso measurement.
      3. While standing up straight, have a friend measure between the two points to find your correct pack size.

      How to Measure Hips/Waist:

      • 1. Find the top of your hip bones. Use that as your starting point, then wrap the measuring tape around your waist, staying close to the top of your hip bones.
      • Recycled Materials: made from recycled nylon and recycled polyester

    • Patagonia is the brand that other gear companies want to be when they grow up. In 2022, the company's founder, Yvon Chouinard, famously gave the company to the planet. It’s now jointly controlled by a charitable trust and a not-for-profit dedicated to fighting the climate crisis, and all post-operating profits go to environmental causes.

But in some ways that’s the tip of the (melting) iceberg. For nearly half a century, Patagonia has been an experiment in responsible business. From the farms that grow their cotton to the factories that make their goods and everything in-between, they’ve tried incredibly hard to set the gold standard in terms of ethics, transparency and social responsibility. Not only that, but their gear is made to last – to take hard use and repairs, and to maintain its performance through thick and thin.

All of which is even more extraordinary when you consider that Yvon Chouinard started out blacksmithing climbing gear for his mates in his parents' backyard, using a forge and anvil that he bought from a junkyard.

At WildBounds we don’t usually tend to go for the big-name brands, but this was one we simply couldn’t resist. Quite apart from their amazing ethical and environmental credentials, they just make great gear. We’ve used it and loved it for years, and you will too.
