  • Technical warmth at a fair price

The Warmlite 550 XT-R pairs a technical shell and high-loft down with only the essential design features, which keeps the price sensible for multi-day hiking and mountaineering trips. The recycled shell is highly breathable, so body moisture moves out instead of gathering in the down and cutting its warmth, and a draft tube along the zip holds the heat in. It has two temperature ratings, -1°C for cold sleepers and -7°C for warm sleepers, so you can see whether it will work for the way you sleep.

      • Two temperature ratings, one for cold sleepers and one for warm sleepers
      • Cross block baffles stop the down shifting between the top and base
      • Differential cut reduces compression and cold spots

      • Full-length side and foot zips
      • Anti-snag shield along the zip

      • Between trips, store your bag in its storage sack to help maintain its loft and warmth.
      • Use a sleeping bag liner to help keep your bag clean and maintain its loft and warmth.
      • Use a camping mat under your bag to help keep it clean and provide thermal insulation from the ground.
      • Air your bag after each use and store it completely dry.

How Do I Wash My Sleeping Bag?

We recommend hand washing your bag in a large tub with down cleaner.

      • Do not dry-clean.
      • Do not use bleach or fabric softener.
      • Do not use a top-loading washing machine.

Follow these steps to hand wash your bag:

      1. Turn your bag inside out or unzip it completely.
      2. Fill a tub with enough lukewarm water to cover the bag. Add down cleaner according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
      3. Gently knead the bag to work the water and cleaner through it. Take care not to lift the bag out of the water.
      4. Empty the tub and compress the bag to remove as much soiled water as possible.
      5. Refill the tub with clean water and knead the bag to rinse it. Repeat as needed.
      6. Empty the tub and compress the bag until it is thoroughly drained.
      7. Roll the bag into a ball and lift it with both hands. Lifting a wet bag loosely can tear the fabric.

How Do I Dry My Sleeping Bag?

      • Tumble dry on a delicate, low-heat setting.
      • Check the bag frequently to make sure it is not overheating.
      • Massage the bag intermittently to break up any down clumps.
      • Add a few clean tennis balls to the dryer to help prevent the down from clumping.
      • When drying is finished, carefully feel the down to ensure it is completely dry before storing.
      • Lay the bag out for several days after drying before storing.

      The Do’s

      • Use a sleeping mat.
      • Use a sleeping bag liner.
      • Air your bag after use.
      • Store your bag in its storage sack.
      • Hand wash your bag as needed.
      • Use a down-cleaning solution.
      • Take your sleeping bag on wonderful adventures in the wild.

      The Don’ts

      • Do not dry-clean your bag.
      • Do not wash it with soap or detergent; use only a down-cleaning solution.
      • Do not use bleach or fabric softener.
      • Do not use a top-loading washing machine.
      • Do not lift your bag when it is very wet.
      • Do not tumble dry on high heat or for extended periods.
      • Do not store your bag damp.
      • Do not store your bag compressed.
      • Recycled Materials: lining made from 100% recycled nylon
      • Ethically Sourced Materials: The RDS certifies down against animal welfare requirements and tracks it from the source to the final product. The purchase of RDS certified products demonstrates demand for better animal welfare practices in the down and feather supply chain. Mont is certified to the RDS.
      • Sustainability Through Longevity: Mont product warranty covers manufacturing and material faults for 5 years from the date of purchase.
    • Ever found yourself halfway up a mountain in gear you wish you hadn’t bought? So did Andrew ‘Monty’ Montgomery. Sick of kit that couldn’t do the one job he’d bought it for, he borrowed a sewing machine in 1978 and made himself a sleeping bag, then a down jacket and a tent. Word travelled fast, and in 1981 he founded Mont in Canberra, Australia. By 1988 it was providing gear for Australia’s Bicentennial Everest climb, and Mont’s kit has since been on ascents of 8000m peaks, polar traverses and ski expeditions across Greenland.

And Mont does all of this while taking responsibility seriously. All of Mont’s down is Responsible Down Standard certified, so the birds are never live-plucked or force-fed. It has partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects since 2020 to restore forest in Honduras, and it’s working towards carbon-neutral status under Australia’s Climate Active programme. The aim is gear that lasts in the harshest conditions on earth while doing as little damage as possible to the places it’s used.
