Scent is our most powerful sense. That’s the core belief at the heart of Earl of East, founded back in 2014 as a market stall in East London. It has since expanded to include four stores across the city, offering a line of carefully curated home fragrances.
Creative, collaborative and community-driven, the company is about far more than just selling candles though. Visit an Earl of East store and you might walk straight into a perfume-making workshop or find yourself in conversation with fellow fragrance fans over freshly brewed coffee.
Scents are inspired by global travel, drawing on nature’s most evocative and exotic trees, herbs and flowers – from the mighty cedars of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains to the ancient vineyards and garden terraces of the Greek islands. Using a mix of naturally derived essential oils and botanical fragrance oils, all ingredients are ethically sourced and fully traceable to origin.
Similarly, all Earl of East candles are hand poured in East London and made using eco-soy (non-GMO) wax, which ensures the candles burn slower and last longer. Suppliers are ethically certified, ensuring that materials do not contribute to deforestation and respect the rights of workers and indigenous people. Wicks are made from eco certified cotton and unbleached linen, so your candle shouldn’t smoke or create a large flame. The candles are also vegan, Halal and kosher. Meanwhile, incense cones are made using wood and bamboo sticks scented with essential oils. All materials used are vegan, non-GMO, paraben free and cruelty free.
