Now here’s something you never knew you needed until now. Snow Peak have taken a relaxed polycotton pullover and made it water-repellent. Rather than trying to spray on a coating, they’ve actually treated the yarn itself before it gets knitted into fabric. This isn’t an easy thing to achieve on standard machines, and the only place in Japan that can do it is a factory in Tokushima that usually produces military kit. The 65% polyester, 35% cotton blend is knitted without ribbing and has roll-up sleeves, collar and hem – so it feels more like a heavy tee than traditional knitwear. Baked-in antibacterial treatments keep it smelling fresh between washes, which is a good thing really, because it’s destined to become your new summer staple.
