Back in 2009, Jeff Kearl and four mates looked at the grim wall of beige three-packs in the sock aisle and reckoned the world deserved better. They set up shop in San Clemente, California — a sun-bleached surf town with a serious skate scene — and got to work designing socks the way a cobbler builds shoes: on a last, with proper attention to fit, arch support, heel cup and a seamless toe box. Bold patterns came as standard.
