As the name might suggest, the Huntsman is designed as a shooting gilet – with double-layered fabric in the shoulders and two roomy cartridge/handwarmer pockets at the front. But even if you're not walking up birds with a spaniel and a twelve-bore, it's got a lot to recommend it as an all-purpose outdoor bodywarmer. The Huntsman is made in a 100% merino wool knit that's been boiled to make it extra-warm and windproof, and they've upped the flexibility and ventilation by using rib-knit merino for the collar and side panels. It all adds up to an extremely versatile piece – ideal for layering under your jacket in bitter weather or for wearing on its own when speed and free movement are your priorities.

Amundsen clothing is named after one of the greatest explorers ever to walk the Earth. No pressure there then.
