What we love about Snow Peak's Land Nest is its versatile setup options. It's a self-supporting dome for up to four (so long as you’re good friends…), with a flysheet that has no designated front or back – so you can just hang the inner tent whichever way suits your pitch and preferences. The included tarp is what you’d have called a ‘dining shelter’ back in the scouts – a useful add-on that extends your living space for cooking and lounging. Mesh windows on both the inner and flysheet keep air moving on muggy nights, and you can convert it to a two-room shelter by adding one of Snow Peak’s solo inner tents. At nearly 16 kilos all-in, this isn’t a hike tent, but for a car camping or canoeing setup, it’s bang-on.

Snow Peak's journey began in 1958, when the founder Yukio Yamai, an accomplished mountaineer, created his own line of superior climbing gear.
