#3 These days, Halloween has the gone the same way as Easter and Christmas - associated more with supermarket marketing campaigns than tradition or time spent with family. That's why this video, shared by our friends at Wilderness SUP, grabbed our attention - it breaks down nine ancient Halloween customs in Scotland, from marking the start of the Celtic new year to warding off evil with flaming torches.

#4 Mark Omrod, an ex-Royal Marine and triple amputee, has just done the impossible: winning gold at the Invictus Games in the 50m Breaststroke, despite having never attempted the style until 45 minutes before the event. It's an inspirational feat of human performance and a testament to the iron determination that Mark possesses.
