The fishing jacket that’s traded the jetty for the city

This Women's Short Work Jacket is based on an old fishing jacket from the Filson archives. They’ve recreated it in oil-finish Shelter Cloth – which is lighter and more flexible than their famous heavyweight ‘Tin Cloth’ – and gone for a shorter waist-length cut that gives it a more modern look. Apart from that, though, they’ve pretty much kept all the practical details that made the original design so enduring. The seamless caped shoulder construction eliminates vulnerable spots where water could sneak through, while the large expandable cargo pockets can swallow all your essentials and more. The whole jacket is lined with the same soft brushed-cotton flannel that they use on their popular Alaskan guide shirts, with a brightly coloured hunter-style lining that adds a nice pop when you unzip it. The drawcord-adjustable hem is a feature that they’ve carried over from the archive jacket, and lets you cinch it in when the wind picks up. This is the kind of thing Filson does best – taking heritage workwear and tweaking it into a modern silhouette.
