We all love a good utility trouser, but all too often the fabric is like cardboard until you’ve washed it 30-odd times. Skip the break-in with the Rock Ridge Relaxed Pant. prAna's garment-dyed stretch canvas blend – organic and recycled cotton with a touch of spandex – comes enzyme-washed so it already has that soft, broken-in feel right from the first wear. Relaxed straight fit, inseam gusset for movement, your classic workwear thigh utility pocket for Stanley knives, tape measures or… you know, phones… and a double layer at the back of the cuffs so you're not shredding the heels after a month of wear. Wear ‘em, wash ‘em, hammer ‘em… they’re only going to look better with some miles on the clock.

The need for shorts that offered supreme comfort and mobility was the starting point for prAna, the California brand founded in 1992 by husband-and-wife team Beaver and Pam Theodosakis. Working out of a small garage in the coastal city of Carlsbad, the duo set out on a journey to make stylish and functional activewear. But there was a higher purpose too – namely, respect for the planet and its people. From the outset, they committed to sustainability and lessening the environmental impact of everything they made.
It was an ethos rooted in the realisation that everything is connected. This concept was encapsulated in the name that Beaver and Pam chose for their brand, prana. It’s a Sanskrit word that literally translates as ‘breath’, but which refers to the universal energy that flows within and among us, connecting us with all other living beings. So, for prAna, what you wear matters. It matters firstly because clothing that gives you the freedom to move inspires you to chase adventures and stay active. But secondly, it matters because sustainable clothing lessens our impact on the planet. It’s the right thing to do – and the right thing to wear.
