Thought to have originated in the mid-1800s, the hunting jacket was a weatherproof, mid-length jacket made to conceal and carry numerous shooting paraphernalia. Further popularised in the late 1800s by the gentry and royals, the jacket has remained a hardy favourite for these social sporting events. Today, well-known British and American brands have a hunting style jacket in their collections but are made for the more modern man, seen as an adventure jacket to protect against the weather whilst out walking, hiking or out on the motorcycle. What's remained is the sturdy wax-coated fabric, oversized pockets and thick lining to provide warmth and comfort.
