Sustainably-made, take-anywhere seat pad

When you’ve been putting in hard miles on the trail, it’s nice to take the load off now and again. But finding somewhere to sit can be tricky if you want to avoid damp and muddy ground – or a cold, wet bum. And you often encounter the same problem in plenty of other walks of life too, whether you’re doing a spot of gardening, enjoying a picnic in the park or even chilling out at a festival. In short, you need a Chipper. This lightweight and packable seat pad is comfortable and durable, making it a practical take-anywhere companion. But best of all, it’s made entirely from remoulded foam scraps reclaimed from the manufacture of NEMO’s Switchback sleeping mats. The design utilises the same hexagonal nesting pattern to minimise packed size and weight, with engineered contours to protect from cold or damp surfaces. As well as reducing production waste, the use of scraps means that no two Chipper pads are exactly the same. The result? A fun, unique and environmentally responsible way to sit back and soak up the great outdoors

  • The idea of NEMO was born one turbulent night on the side of Mount Washington while Cam Brensinger spent a sleepless five hours in a poorly designed bivy. That night he realised how much opportunity there was for thoughtful design as part of the equation of enjoying adventure. And, coming down off the mountain the next day, he resolved to tackle that challenge. Three days after graduation from Rhode Island School of Design, he founded NEMO Equipment.

From the Journal: NEMO Equipment | The Story

This product is the go-to item I use when sitting or kneeling on the floor. I also like that it conveniently folds up.
