There's always a moment in any traveller's life when you need more bag than you packed. A bountiful market haul in Marrakech, ski hire equipment to carry back to the chalet, or simply an overoptimistic assessment of how light you'd travel. The ReFraction Duffle and FreeFly Duffle both served this purpose well; the 30L Packable Duffle is the sharper, more capable successor. Carry-on compliant at 30 litres, it handles duffel or crossbody carry via the adjustable shoulder strap, plus compression straps for securing to the outside of a pack or converting to backpack carry. Weatherproof construction and DuraGlide sealing zippers mean it handles the elements as well as any dedicated bag, and the rubberised carry handles and grab points on both ends make it easy to pull out at a moment's notice (like when you suddenly realise that actually this is your stop). At 8oz it compresses into its own pocket, taking up essentially no space until the moment you need it.
