With a pull-on rib-knit waistband, sliding into these super-comfy Koen pants from prAna feels a bit like getting into your jim-jams. Combine that with a cool wide-leg silhouette and moisture-wicking 4-way stretch fabric, and you’ve got pretty much the ideal travel trousers – especially for hotter climates. Offering great breathability and UPF50+ sun protection, the mid-rise relaxed fit includes an external drawcord to stop them falling down if you lose weight on your travels (we’ve all experienced a bout of ‘Moctezuma’s Revenge’ in our time…). You’ve also got flat front slash pockets with concealed zips for security, and adjustable hems so you can cinch them in on hikes and dancefloors.

The need for shorts that offered supreme comfort and mobility was the starting point for prAna, the California brand founded in 1992 by husband-and-wife team Beaver and Pam Theodosakis. Working out of a small garage in the coastal city of Carlsbad, the duo set out on a journey to make stylish and functional activewear. But there was a higher purpose too – namely, respect for the planet and its people. From the outset, they committed to sustainability and lessening the environmental impact of everything they made.
It was an ethos rooted in the realisation that everything is connected. This concept was encapsulated in the name that Beaver and Pam chose for their brand, prana. It’s a Sanskrit word that literally translates as ‘breath’, but which refers to the universal energy that flows within and among us, connecting us with all other living beings. So, for prAna, what you wear matters. It matters firstly because clothing that gives you the freedom to move inspires you to chase adventures and stay active. But secondly, it matters because sustainable clothing lessens our impact on the planet. It’s the right thing to do – and the right thing to wear.
