Trialled at the South Pole, the Field Notes Expedition Edition memo book is the most rugged and durable notebook around. We’re not kidding – it’s been tested for waterproofness, visibility, wind resistance, tensile strength, compression, acid resistance and extreme temperatures. Its striking design features a high visibility “Antarctic Survey Orange” front cover and a “Polar Night Black” back cover, with a subtle varnish effect featuring a topographic map of Antarctica. The pages are printed with a dot-graph pattern that is more subtle than grid squares or ruled lines, allowing you more freedom to sketch and write on the same page. The paper is a tearproof and waterproof Yupo Synthetic paper, extruded from polypropylene pellets in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Ethically Sourced Materials - All of Field Notes paper suppliers are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an industry/environmental group that ensures paper is manufactured responsibly. Most of their cover papers come from the French Paper Co. in Niles, Michigan. French is a small family company with an impressive environmental record: they've run on hydroelectric power generated right at the plant for almost 100 years.
The Yupo Synthetic paper in this Expedition Edition (cover and body) is 100% synthetic. No trees there, and though it’s tough as nails, it’s also recyclable.
