Your new favourite ‘grab and go’ tee

The humble T-shirt is often overlooked, but actually, finding a great one isn’t so easy. The perfect tee should be soft, comfortable and well-fitting – so it’s easy to layer under a hoody or sweater but also solid standalone wear for ‘T-shirt weather’ days. Presumably, that was exactly the kind of T-shirt that PrAna aspired to create when they came up with the Cardiff – and we think they nailed it. Apart from maybe the name, which probably refers to the surf spot in San Diego, California, but on this side of the pond is a city in Wales (hey, it’s a cool place, but not really renowned as a mecca for outdoorsy types). There’s no faulting this tee’s sustainability credentials though, since it blends natural hemp, recycled polyester and super-soft Tencel Lyocell, a fibre derived from wood pulp. All of which means it’s the ideal ‘grab and go’ tee for active days. Or even nights out in Cardiff (either one, you decide)

  • The need for shorts that offered supreme comfort and mobility was the starting point for PrAna, the California brand founded in 1992 by husband-and-wife team Beaver and Pam Theodosakis. Working out of a small garage in the coastal city of Carlsbad, the duo set out on a journey to make stylish and functional activewear. But there was a higher purpose too – namely, respect for the planet and its people. From the outset, they committed to sustainability and lessening the environmental impact of everything they made.

It was an ethos rooted in the realisation that everything is connected. This concept was encapsulated in the name that Beaver and Pam chose for their brand, prana. It’s a Sanskrit word that literally translates as ‘breath’, but which refers to the universal energy that flows within and among us, connecting us with all other living beings. So, for PrAna, what you wear matters. It matters firstly because clothing that gives you the freedom to move inspires you to chase adventures and stay active. But secondly, it matters because sustainable clothing lessens our impact on the planet. It’s the right thing to do – and the right thing to wear.
