A common theme among truly outstanding products in outdoor adventure is that they were born through necessity, when a product was needed but simply didn’t exist. Yeti fit that mould perfectly. In East Germany, before the fall of the Berlin Wall, climber Bernd Exner was embarking on a mountaineering trip in the depths of winter but couldn’t source a sleeping bag that could handle the frozen temperatures in alpine Romania. He was saved by his enterprising wife, Sabine, who sat down at the kitchen table and stitched one together, with incredible results. Yeti was born.
Ever since the Wall fell and the Exners could commercialise their innovative products, Yeti has carved out a firm position in the outdoor adventure industry. Applying the same technology and materials from their sleeping bags to their down jackets, Yeti created an astounding range of winter-ready outerwear, from lightweight jackets to expedition level parkas. That enterprising spirit and keen eye for design have led them to experiment with eco-friendly fabrics that maintain a high level of performance. Designed in Germany and tested in extreme environments across the world, Yeti’s premium insulated jackets will keep you warm, no matter the conditions outside.
