The pocket-knife, perfected
Originating in Sheffield, Yorkshire and perfected in the United States, the Barlow is among the most traditional and best-loved styles of pocket-knives. The James Brand’s take on this iconic design is the Wayland, a classic slipjoint folding knife with an appropriately vintage look. The scales are made from handsome American Sycamore – what we’d call an American Plane tree. Rather than a standard clip-point, the blade is also a more unusual Wharncliffe style – often known as a lambsfoot or sheepsfoot. This gives you a long cutting edge that is great for slicing and whittling, with minimal risk of piercing anything with the tip. It’s a supremely elegant and deceptively simple pocket companion that is ideal for everyday carry
