Durable camping mat, redesigned for extra warmth and comfort
Walk a backpacking trail anywhere in the world and you’ll spot a hiker with a folding camping mat strapped to their pack. Easy to use, versatile and virtually indestructible, the classic closed-cell foam mat has proven its worth on every adventure, from camping trips to DofE expeditions. The NEMO Switchback is the definitive version, with unique foam nodes for better comfort and support, plus heat-trapping air gaps and a layer of thermal film that reflects body heat for enhanced warmth. The Z-shaped design minimises weight and pack size but unfolds in seconds for a cosy and comfortable night’s sleep.

The idea of NEMO was born one turbulent night on the side of Mount Washington while Cam Brensinger spent a sleepless five hours in a poorly designed bivy. That night he realised how much opportunity there was for thoughtful design as part of the equation of enjoying adventure. And, coming down off the mountain the next day, he resolved to tackle that challenge. Three days after graduation from Rhode Island School of Design, he founded NEMO Equipment.
