  • Manufactured Sustainably - Under the banner of their Project Zero Waste, Glerups upcycle leftover wool and leather in new production, give-aways, POS material, and partnerships.
  • Manufactured Locally - Glerups are made in their own factory in Romania.
  • Locally Sourced Materials - Glerups mix Gotland wool from Denmark with quality crossbreed white wool from New Zealand, all of which lives up to the highest standards for uniform quality and animal welfare.
  • Ethically Sourced Materials - Wool is a renewable resource that regrows annually, making it a sustainable option. And unlike synthetic fibers, wool does not shed microplastics into water systems. Wool also naturally breaks down in the environment, unlike synthetic fabrics that can persist for centuries in landfills. When disposed of, wool decomposes, releasing valuable nutrients back into the soil.

Starting out life as a lover-letter to her husband, Ove, way back in the 1970s, Glerups are living proof that a good idea really can stand the test of time. And from her initial plan just to make a pair of comfortable yet functional slippers that were as good on the environment as they were to Ove’s tootsies, Nanny Glerups’ felt boots have since become a lasting testament to Danish design. They’re simple, eco-friendly and have become the Nordic epitome of sustainability. And we, for one, are right on board; flying the Danish flag for every foot that’s ever found itself buried in a pair of damp synthetic walking boots long into the night. You see, we appreciate a bit of comfort around camp — despite being avid UL adventurers ourselves. After all, when was the last time a little bit of cosiness did anything but revive the vibe around camp?

Today, Glerups have come a long way since their original inception over 50 years ago, having perfected a range of outdoor slippers, slip-ons, shoes and boots. And while the products may have evolved, the company’s original ethos of sustainability and environmental regeneration is still a palpable part of its DNA. Seriously, it’s a full-on farm-to-foot affair at Glerups — delivering comfort that’s good for our planet.

  • Since wool has a natural ability to self-clean, your glerups will stay fresh if you simply air them out and allow them to rest.
  • To remove stains we suggest that you gently clean on the stain with at light wet cloth and wool soap. You may have to repeat the process a few times, but make sure that you always leave the slippers to dry before starting over again.
  • Vacuum or blow your glerups clean of dust. Leather soles can be brushed and cleaned with a leather brush.
  • Please be careful – natural rubber or leather soles may be slippery on wet and icy surfaces such as tile.
  • All our uppers are produced in 100% pure and natural wool and therefore you may experience colour difference from batch to batch.
  • Your glerups usually shed within the first 3-4 weeks of wear giving you a long-lasting comfortable feel for years to come. This is normal due to the natural treatment of our wool. Simply remove the shedding fibers and discard as desired.
