Giving cotton scraps a second chance

So this is a nice idea. Cult Japanese gear company Snow Peak has developed a line of cotton basics that use up off-cuts of material from their own manufacturing processes. At the end of each season, all the cutting scraps are broken down into yarn and worked into the raw materials for the next drop of sweaters, hoodies and joggers. This no-fuss cotton sweatshirt, for example, is made from 20% recycled material – and it’s the kind of staple you’ll find yourself going back to time after time. It's heavily pre-washed to prevent unsightly pilling and fading, and comes with a nice set of hidden handwarmer pockets that make it perfect for slouching around camp

  • Crew neck sweatshirt
  • Handwarmer pockets
  • Pre-washed to prevent pilling and fading
  • Small Snow Peak asterisk logo embroidered on sleeve

  • Because it is worn and washed a lot, pilling is unlikely to occur
  • Durable outer material guarantees durability and does not settle immediately
  • The melange-like outer material reduces rubbing and discoloration due to washing

How to measure

  • Ethically Sourced Materials - This product is made from recycled cotton
  • Sustainability through Longevity - Snow Peak products are designed and built to last a lifetime. They submit all of their clothing to rigorous engineering and testing to ensure long-lasting durability. If you find that the product doesn’t live up to Snow Peak’s standards, they will repair or exchange it free of charge.

Snow Peak's journey began in 1958, when the founder Yukio Yamai, an accomplished mountaineer, created his own line of superior climbing gear. Snow Peak then looked to evolve by shifting its focus from the mountaineering equipment of the past to the camping equipment of the future. Fueled by the booming national interest in auto-camping sweeping across Japan, Snow Peak released a series of radically innovative products which focused on quality, functionality, timeless-durability and considered design.
