Voited's Picnic & Beach Blanket sorts that out without taking up half your bag. One side is soft micro-fleece that dries quickly, while the other is tough ripstop REPREVE made from recycled bottles with a water-resistant coating. The clever bit is how it packs down into its own integrated pouch, which means it actually fits in a daypack. Hidden valuables pocket keeps your phone and keys secure when you're in the water, and press-stud corners let you snap multiple blankets together if you're setting up with mates. It's big enough for two people plus lunch, but weighs just over a kilo and packs to about the size of a jumper. The snaps also work for wearing it as a cape when the wind picks up. It's the sort of thing that lives in your boot ready for whenever you need it.
