A comfortable home from home
Sierra Designs’ original Meteor tent was a bona-fide classic, renowned across the US for its practicality and liveability. The latest model has undergone a serious makeover, retaining all of the best features while adding extra interior space and saving weight. The new Lite 3000 has increased waterproof protection on the fly and bathtub style groundsheet, making it a great option for 3 season use in UK conditions. A reconfigured pole system adds headroom, while a full mesh inner reduces weight and increases ventilation. The fly rolls back on all four sides, maximising airflow and offering superb night-sky views. It’s easy to set up too, with poles that lock in place, extended pole sleeves and colour-coding to help you quickly identify what’s what. The design is fully free-standing, with twin doors and porches that give easy entry and exit plus plenty of room for all your gear.

Maybe it’s no wonder that the state of California has been the cradle for so many great American outdoor brands. Sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevada mountains, and encompassing no less than nine US National Parks, the Golden State has long been a mecca for outdoor adventurers of every ilk. Sierra Designs is a case in point. California was the natural place for the brand’s co-founders, a pair of young outdoor aficionados named George Marks and Bob Swanson, to set up shop.
They first met in late 1963 at while working at The Ski Hut in Berkeley, CA. Two years later, Sierra Designs was born. Today, the brand continues to create outdoor equipment and apparel that is functional, beautiful, and most importantly, attainable, enabling outdoor lovers throughout the USA and beyond to hit the trail and fill their souls with a sense of wanderlust.
