No frills, no spills

Sandqvist's super-streamlined Konrad daypack is designed to withstand a proper soaking. They've armoured up the recycled polyester shell (which was water-resistant anyway) with a waterproof TPU coating, and locked everything down with a roll-top closure and waterproof YKK AquaGuard zips. Even the side slip pockets that sit on the outside of Sandqvist's other bags have been moved inside the Konrad to keep the silhouette clean and the seams to a minimum. Shoulder straps and back panel are both padded for a comfortable carry all day long, and there's an external zip pocket for easy access on the go. It might look stylish, but this is a seriously functional outdoor bag that'll shrug off a downpour, keeping your stuff safe through the heaviest of weather. It's a great choice for cyclists, particularly since the reflective webbing will pop at night for added visibility on the road. For a similar pack with a bit more room, you could take a look at the Ruben 2.0.

  • Ethically Sourced Materials: Sandqvist is aggressively reducing the environmental impact of their products. This includes a commitment to only using organic cotton and synthetic materials containing recycled fibres. For leather, only hides treated in tanneries rated Gold or Silver by the Leather Working Group for their environmental status can be used. Also, only leather that is a by-product from the meat and dairy industry can be used.

Fusing the style and creative energy of the Stockholm archipelago with the hard-bitten adventure of the Scandinavian mountains, Sandqvist's beautiful packs are as Swedish as cinnamon buns and that funny cod roe in squeezy tubes.

Founded in 2004 by three childhood mates living in Stockholm, the idea was to create bags that weren't tied to a single environment. Razor-sharp minimalist design to look stylish in the city, teamed with technical features and fabrics to perform in the backcountry. We could all do with less stuff in our lives, and Sandqvist's versatile packs will take you from fika in Södermalm to a red-painted summer cabin in the forest – all while looking just about as Grammable as it gets.

These are bags designed to do more with less – and that carries through into the materials and manufacture too. The durable polyester and nylon fabrics are 100% recycled from post-consumer or industrial waste, and supply chains are regularly audited for working conditions and environmental impact. The leather is a by-product of high-welfare Scandinavian meat and dairy herds, processed by independently certified tanneries – and in some cases they also produce vegan versions of their packs.

Speaking as inveterate Scandophiles, we reckon Sandqvist’s packs are everything gear should be. Sustainable, functional, versatile, and seriously good-looking.
