Cosy mitts with added dexterity

Most mittens are super-warm but offer all the dexterity of a dolphin’s flipper. Elmer’s Cover Down Mitts are different. Echoing the functional design of a classic 1970s arctic expedition parka, these mitts have a windproof and durable cotton-nylon shell with a warm down fill and a high-loft polyester fleece lining. A clever drawcord adjustable opening on the underside of the fingers allows you to quickly stick out your fingers to use a smartphone or keypad. An extended cuff with snap button split closure gives you full coverage in cold weather, while still allowing you to quickly pull your mitts on or off.

Fusing authentic American heritage with a contemporary Japanese design aesthetic, Elmer Gloves offer truly high-quality handwear.

The brand’s roots go way back to 1893, when a small US company named Elmer Little & Sons was established, appropriately enough, in Gloversville, New York. As you might have guessed from its name, the city was America’s undisputed glove-making capital. Elmer was at the forefront, building an enviable reputation for their superior work and dress gloves, though they also made everything from ski gloves to baseball mitts. The company grew steadily throughout the decades before being eventually acquired by the Japanese Swany Corporation in the 1980s.

Building on Elmer’s legacy of fine craftsmanship, Swany moved the brand into the performance sportswear market, introducing technical fabrics and innovative designs. Today, they’ve gained a cult following among fashionistas and skiers alike. Which means that whether you’re heading out onto city streets or Alpine slopes, with a pair of Elmers, you’re in safe hands.
