Group bikepacking trips require either multiple tents or one bigger shelter that doesn't pack like a telegraph pole. Big Agnes' Copper Spur UL Bikepack 3P delivers the latter with 12-inch Shortstik poles that compress to 42cm – manageable for frame bags or handlebar mounts. The fly sheet is made from HyperBead fabric, which is measurably stronger and more waterproof than traditional coatings whilst being lighter, which matters when you're hauling everything by leg power. Inside, ample floor space and head height mean three people can actually coexist without going full sardine-tin. The large vestibules provide proper storage for panniers and boots, and 3D bins turn the dead space above your feet into useful storage. At 1.63kg trail weight, it's a lightweight load, especially when split between riders, and the freestanding design means you can pitch wherever you find flat-ish ground after a long day.

Big Agnes is a small, independent US outdoor brand out of Steamboat Springs, Colorado – a small ski-town that we’ve never visited but which we like to imagine is full of mountain-loving, trail-hiking outdoorsy types. That would make sense, since the company makes some of the best ultralight backpacking gear around, including the award-winning Copper Spur, Tiger Wall and Fly Creek tents. It is kit that has clearly been designed by a gang of folks who love sleeping in the dirt just as much as we do here at WildBounds.
Oh, and if you’re still wondering where the heck that name Big Agnes comes from, we did try to find out. Depending on who you talk to, it’s either an affectionate tribute to a legendary truck drivin’ mountain mama, or a 12,000 foot peak in the Mount Zirkel Wilderness. We kinda like the first one better.
