Superior quality with a timeless style

In 1871, 21 rugby clubs came together in a restaurant in Pall Mall, London, to codify the sport they loved, creating a unified set of rules for the first time. Nearly 150 years later, Black & Blue 1871 have created a series of classic rugby shirts inspired by the style of those original clubs, fusing a traditional look with exceptional quality heavy slub cotton. Designed in the UK and manufactured with care and precision in Portugal, these shirts are built to withstand the rigours of everyday modern life, whether you’re hard at work at home or cheering on your local team at the pub.

To create exquisite, hard-wearing apparel for everyday adventures, Black & Blue 1871 turned back the clock – specifically, to 1871 and the formation of rugby as we know it today. They are inspired by the rugby shirts of old – the ones that prevailed when the game was still a plucky, amateur affair; when shirts were built to last for longer than 80 minutes; when shirts were stylish, and not coated in adverts | READ MORE
