#2 Range Rover turns 50
After the Jeep and the Land Rover, the Range Rover is arguably the most iconic 4x4 vehicle ever. And though it is now just a status symbol, the original had serious expedition chops – in 1972 it became the first vehicle to cross the length of the Americas. In 1977 it won the London-Sydney Marathon, then in 1979 it won the first ever Paris-Dakar rally. This gallery celebrates the venerable Rangie’s half-century.

It will be about the size of a Fiat 500 but will sit on 28” all terrain wheels and will be equipped with a custom-made robotic arm to retrieve rock samples.

#4 Light bulb moment for spies
